How successful are multilevel marketing businesses? Let's just pump out some numbers here, shall we? Avon, probably the most well-known MLM company in the world, tops $6 billion a year. Amway makes about $4 billion, Herbalife about $1.5 billion and Mary Kay $1.2 billion. That's how well multilevel marketing businesses are doing these days, thanks to the hard work, solid product and service lines and tireless recruitment practices of its members.
What is a multilevel marketing business?
A multilevel marketing business, also known as an MLM is essentially a networking business. Unlike traditional forms of businesses, MLM is made up of representatives, distributors or members who are allowed to recruit other distributors and members to form a downline.
Depending on the business model being followed by the MLM program, members earn by collecting commissions from the sales generated by their downlines and commissions obtained from their own sales. Sometimes, recruiters earn a percentage from the membership fees paid by their downlines. However, in legitimate MLM businesses, this is not the only means with which members earn. Otherwise, the business will be treated as a pyramid scheme.
Are multilevel marketing businesses legal?
Yes. The manner with which an MLM business creates its sales force and pays its members is perfectly legitimate. Problems only arise when unscrupulous individuals begin using the concept of MLM for their own dubious designs, either to promote a business that doesn't exist or a product that is low quality at best. Only when there is a legal backbone to the program and there are real, actual products and/or services being sold to consumers can an MLM be considered legal.

If you are also struggling with your mlm business and thinking that there must be a better way, I wrote this article just for you. It does not matter if you are an mlm consultant with Quixtar, Herbalife, Amway or any other top network marketing company. This article is for you.
The mlm training showed me that everything we have been taught about building a network marketing business is wrong. I had to clear my mind of the lies that I have been told. Lies such as:
1. Everyone qualifies as my prospects. Therefore, everyone wants this. They just do not know it yet.
2. We are not really selling products. We are simply sharing.
3. Network marketing is easy. Anyone can do this business.
4. No selling or recruiting is needed. We will build your business for you.
5. Our products are the best on the market. Everyone will want them.
6. You do not have enough belief. You got to fake it to make it.
7. Trust in the proven system. It works. Do not try to recreate it.
These lies will continuously have you spending time and money chasing prospects who are not interested in your mlm opportunity plus giving products away. Eventually you will find yourself losing more than you are gaining.
Can you relate? I am sure most of you can.
At this point you can either fake it to make it, or, try something new. I was ready to try new network marketing strategies. This is where I began implementing new tactics in my mlm business.

One of my husband's employees has been trying to get my husband to join him in selling Mona Vie. We aren't too familiar with this product except is some kind of health juice drink. Hubbie told the kid to let us try the product and then if we liked it we might buy more. The response was that there was no way he could let us sample it unless we wanted to buy a .00 bottle because he couldn't afford to just give it away.
He was much more interested in having my husband sell it than buy it so it led me to believe that this is just another Multi level marketing scheme.
Is this about the product or about recruiting? I joined Amway ten years or so ago thinking I would sell products only to find out that the "average" salesperson made nothing. It was more about selling you motivational tapes. Is Mona Vie like this?

I lost my job last week and I am looking for a business to run from my home office. I like sales and marketing. I am not interested in MLM opportunities because what I have read here they are all scams and I don't think I would feel comfortable selling over priced products.
My paraents were in AMWAY in the late 70's and early 80's and as a kid, I watched them loose most of their friends and lost touch with family members because of the hope they put in the soap. Eventually, the lost of the people around them affected their marriage and they got divorced.
I am looking for something I can feel good about and not deceive a person into something that is not real. Any ideas?

I am a veteran of Amway, Primerica, Mary Kay, GT Trends and others. I truly believe in the system. I am looking for my next mlm opportunity with the right product/service, the right company and the right upline. I've been to most of the mlm directories and seen all of the stale markets that I can stand. I'm looking for fresh and unique. Startups and Pre-launches are a bonus, but I'll take established and growing too. I must believe in the product/service. It has to provide a real value for prospective buyers in need, i.e. marketability. Concerning comp plans, I love the 1/3 2/3 binary, but will consider others. Weekly paychecks are better than monthly. An active upline is critical, as is, responsive customer service, state of the art backroom, high-quality landing pages and local meetups. If you know of an awesome mlm opportunity that fits this description, please let me know about it. I'm looking for something people want and need… to save money and make money. Please provide link!
