multilevel marketing
Jeni Roper asked:

Multilevel Marketing, or MLM, is a system for selling goods or services through a network of distributors. The typical Multilevel Marketing program works through sales and recruitment.

You are invited to become a distributor, sometimes through another distributor of the Multilevel Marketing company's products, and sometimes through a generally advertised meeting. If you choose to become a distributor with the Multilevel Marketing company, you'll earn money both through the sales of the MLM's products and through recruiting other distributors, by receiving a portion of the income these distributors generate.

The distributors that you sign up with your Multilevel Marketing plan are called your downline. The distributor that originally recruited you is called your upline. Often he or she will give you some help getting started, including training. Multilevel Marketing plans are legal.

However, if you are considering becoming part of an MLM company, you need to investigate the opportunity thoroughly, just as you would with any other proposed business venture. Not all Multilevel Marketing plans are created equal. Successful well-known MLM businesses include Mary Kay Cosmetics, Avon, and Cognigen.

One myth about MLMs is that they are too hard or too complicated. A true MLM is structured to provide support from many different angles while giving you the tools necessary to start your own business. The reason that it's your own business is:

1) In order to maintain a legal and legitimate opportunity, the organization can not allow you to say that you are employed by them. They thereby give you the right to represent the products and services that they represent as a dba or in layman's terms … they encourage you to create your own business name, and give you marketing tools to make it look more like the products and/or services are coming directly from your company.

multilevel marketing

If we think of a traditional business, in order for it to function properly, it requires huge investments to start it, and continuous payments in order to make it grow and maintain it. It is also necessary for products to go through middle men such as exporters, retailers, etc. The problem with this is all those middle men make the cost of the final product much higher. Each one of them receive their share of the profits and it makes the commercial margins extremely low, with much investment of time and money in order to make the business grow.

Network Marketing is a form in which the maker introduces it's product under "Business Opportunity". This does not mean selling door to door. It is simply a very intelligent way for the consumer to take advantage of its benefits and make money with them as well.

There are many myths in the Network Marketing (MLM) industry, but the reality is that it is the fastest growing industry world wide.

According to statistics, sales through MLM today surpass the $80,000,000 annually and more than twenty five million people are working in some sort of MLM business. Today there are two thousand companies world wide using this system in order to distribute their products.

In the future, when someone talks about Network Marketing, MLM or Multilevel Marketing, after reading this report, you will know exactly what they are talking about. I don't think it necessary to wonder if the system works or not since the reality and statistics are strong enough to take away any doubt. It's impossible to think twenty five million people in the world are wrong, don't you think?

Isn't AVON a MLM company- and aren't they supposed to just do word of mouth advertising? I just wonder if the big bucks it takes to make those ads gets taken, essentially, out of the pockets of the consultants in the long run?

Anyways, I'm just curious about this. I use my skin care/cosmetics from a different MLM company.
ETA: I use Arbonne, and its pretty popular and only uses word of mouth- its definitely possible for this type of business/company.

I'm just curious, my mom did Avon sales when I was younger and lost a lot of money. I know one woman who sells Premeir designs and makes decent money, anyone else? If so what sales do you do? (What company) and are there specific benefits or what is it like?

I'm a college freshmen about to move into my first apartment this summer (yikes!) and I recently just found out my current part time job is going to provide less work hours for the summer.. so I'm looking for additional work like online work or direct sales (ie Avon, Longaberger, Pampered Chef, etc)

Can anyone give me information on a company that would be worthwhile and right for me? Preferably a low start up cost? Lets keep in mind I am a college student…

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
P.S. Legitimate answers are appreciated.

Spam is definitely not.

P.P.S. As far as the beauty market is concerned, which company would be best?

I have tried Pampered Chef, but I am not great at getting people at parties to commit to doing their own parties – A crucial element in any home party type business. I have recently been thinking about trying Avon or Mary Kay or any others where you don't have to have parties to sell. Just wondering if anyone out there has tried any of these and can give me some advice. thanks

We would like one that is fun. We don't want something that is strictly online. So please don't give us information on those types of companies. Which is the best out of say Mary Kay, Avon, Arbonne, Beauty Control, Pampered Chef, and any other similar one? Thanks so much!
