If you are truly serious about making extra money or a full time living online, then you must not ignore the possibilities that are offered by home based business opportunities. These days, there are so many different opportunities available that picking your niche or choosing your destiny can become a real problem. Everyone who has the desire to earn any kind of serious money must acquire some sort of skill in evaluating the different home based business opportunities.

The first thing that you will probably have to consider will be to gauge yourself. You really do need to get to know yourself because you will essentially be working with yourself. You must at least need to be familiar with your own particular traits, including your talents, abilities, desires and areas where you know you'll need to have some self-discipline. Unless you find an opportunity that "fits" you, you probably won't be able to use it very well.

Here is a situation to consider: you are offered the opportunity to become the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, one that primarily deals in oil. Your current occupation is a kindergarten teacher that specializes in art. Chances are, with a combination like this, the CEO position wouldn't be a good fit for you. Even though it's an incredible opportunity without a doubt, it just simply isn't one that really applies to the person that is involved. No matter how hard he works, the kindergarten teacher has, at the very best, a slim chance in making this opportunity work for him.

If you've done your research, you've probably found that many so-called "home based business opportunities" are in the network marketing industry and essentially involve some form of direct selling. There are, however, many businesses that revolve around multi-level marketing models, and those are quite different primarily due to the compensation structure (how you get paid). By finding a business that enables you to leverage the benefits of both network marketing AND direct sales, you will find that your ability to build substantial income streams from your home office in a relatively short period of time is much better.

So how is it that someone can leave the traditional business world, have the luxury of working from home, and earn a six or seven figure income, and not have to worry about the hustle and bustle of traffic, office politics and managing employees?

A Brief History On Network Marketing

For thousands of years, successful business people goods and services at the lowest price possible and sold them at the highest price for maximum profit. In the old days, haggling over price was expected in the negotiation process and the transaction culminated in a handshake deal which left both parties, give or take, mutually satisfied. This simple process of transferring goods and services was most lucrative for the small minority of entrepreneurs who knew the secret to success: network marketing!

Although the concept has been around from the very beginning of trade, the network marketing industry as a recognized industry has only been around for a few decades, and the explosive growth this industry has been experiencing has been phenomenal for both the companies and the entrepreneurs (distributors). So what is network marketing?

There are many different home-based-business opportunities available, and it's important to weigh your options before choosing one.  A great home-based-business option for many people is Network Marketing.  But what exactly is Network Marketing?  And is it right for you?

What is Network Marketing?  It's important to understand exactly what Network Marketing is.  Often known as Multi-Level-Marketing or direct sales, network marketing is a business model that allows a company to market its products directly to consumers through independent distributors.  Each distributor earns commissions based on the volume of products sold through their organization.

How would I earn money as a Network Marketer?  As a Network Marketer, you generally make money from a combination of three things.  First, you can earn money by building a customer base that buys products directly from the company through a preferred customer or buyer's club.  Second, you build an organization of other network marketers who use and market your company's products and earn comissions from the products sold by others in your organization.  Third, you can earn money by buying products from your parent company and selling them at retail.

What are the advantages of Network Marketing?  There are many advantages to having a Network Marketing business.  Here are just a few.

You can work at home (that's why you're looking for a home-based-business, right?)

You have control over the amount of income you earn through your efforts.  Put in a little effort, earn a little money.  Put in a little more effort, earn a little more money.  Put in a lot of effort, and you have the potential to earn a lot of money!

You can leverage the time and efforts of your organization.  To me, this means that you get rewarded monetarily when you help other people to succeed.

I am disabled and am looking for a legitimate home based business idea or something I could do at home to make a small income. There are so many scams out there.

Some have not answered my e-mails yet, but so far they are answer lots of these surveys and sign up for lots of things(magazines, credit cards…) and we will send you 75 cents.

i have been looking around forever for a work at home opportunity that i dont have to invest in. i have a 9 year old, twin 2-year-olds and one due in june and i cant get a real job b/c i would just be working to pay daycare. i need something to make just a little extra cash to offset my husbands pay. i dont need any get rich sceems just a little something like being a chat host or typing forms or something….anything!
